KEEP DREAMING

The Word

Psalm 126:1-3

1 When the Lord turned again the captivity of Zion, we were like them that dream.2 Then was our mouth filled with laughter, and our tongue with singing: then said they among the heathen, The Lord hath done great things for them.3 The Lord hath done great things for us; whereof we are glad.

The Message

Sometimes I look at areas of my life and feel a sense of loss. The most disheartening thing about this sense of loss is that, I cannot even see a way out of this place. It really looks hopeless. It reminds me of a comedy show I watched recently. It was Nigerian comedian Bovi who was relating a dream he had. He was driving on the wrong side of the road, an offence generally referred to as ‘one way’ in Lagos, Nigeria. He was apprehended by a Nigerian police officer and the following conversation ensued.

Officer: Sir, You are driving ‘one way’

Bovi: Oga Sorry, Sorry sir

Officer: Sir, Please turn around and get on the correct side of the road

Bovi: Sorry Oga, I am so sorry Sir

Officer: Sir, please turn around and get on the correct side of the road, before I arrest you

Bovi at this time reached for his purse and picked out a N100 bill to give the officer

Bovi: Oga, Please take this one and buy yourself a drink. Abeg no vex

officer: Please put that away or else I will arrest you for trying to bribe on officer of the Nigerian Police Force.

At this point in the joke, the audience burst into laughter. You can only understand their laughter, if you know how corrupt the Nigerian Police force is. But the joke continued. Bovi, still trying to appease the officer, was reversing to get on the correct side of the road, when he could feel his bed. He had been dreaming. He said in Nigerian broken English, ‘Na dream’. The entire audience broke into a grand applause. It was only possible in his dream. It was a great joke.

Bovi’s joke reminded me of those areas of my life that can only change in dreams. But God says He can do unimaginable stuff in our lives that seem like dreams. Those dreams that we have of impossible situations turning around could actually become our reality if we could let Him take care of them. There is no dream that cannot become real once He has taken them. As the Holy Spirit brought this scripture to me, while I was musing over my issues, I felt better. I felt hope and faith return. Because I realized that having given them to Him, He has the ability to make it my true life experience.

What are those areas that look like they can only happen in your dreams? Hand them over to Him and they can move from your dreams to your reality. Hope will return. Faith will rekindle. You will become like them that dream just as the scriptures have said. You will laugh again. You will yet sing again. Keep dreaming. CK
