LOVE IS IN THE AIR

We’re in the season of love. I know Lagos would have been a mad house on Valentine day. In Dar Es Salaam, there were red roses flying around. Not as much activity as in Lagos, but nobody can ignore Valentine Day, because it is about love. I came across a few quotes and poems I thought would inspire us to appreciate the love in our lives-from our spouses, children, parents, friends, etc. We tend to take the love we receive for granted. However, when the love we give is not appreciated, we feel pain. We must appreciate the love we already have in our lives. It makes like generally look better.

What do I think of love? I think it’s warm and comfortable when it’s real. I feel protected and safe because I know there’s this one person in the whole wide world who truly cares for me. That would be Iyke, my husband here on earth and Jesus the Christ, up there in heaven. I wonder if that makes sense. But then again, love doesn’t always make sense, does it?

I have compiled the poems I thought brought the love message home.

The first one is written by Nestor Gallardo

Love means the warmth of the sun,
the aroma of a rose,
the breeze of the sea,
but as you can see
it never means the same for anyone.
Love acquires its true meaning
by experiencing it for the first time
because only then can you define it.

Here’s another poem by Connie Thomas Lugo as she advices on love

Love is so very special
Yet can make you feel so lost
It can arrive just like the springtime
And melt away like morning frost

You must find ways to nurture
Always grow your love with care
Never ever take for granted
The love that you both share

Mistakes are bound to happen
You may hurt each other’s heart
Yet don’t give up to easily
It will tear your love apart

Love resembles a bright flame
That lights a dark starry night
Never ever let this flame burn down
Rekindle with all your might

Take a moment every day
Look deep into each other’s eyes
Never hesitate to show affection
Small gestures will keep a love alive

Talk openly about your feelings
Take time to show that you care
Treasure each and every moment
Because to find true love is rare

Am sure you all agree with the words of this poem.

Another one by Melissa Higgins. She says Love is

One look
One smile
One touch
One embrace
One kiss
One love
Two people
Two minds
Two souls
Two destinies
One road
One journey
One ending
Together.

The Magic Of Love

Love is like magic
And it always will be.
For love still remains
Life’s sweet mystery!!
Love works in ways
That are wondrous and strange
And there’s nothing in life
That love cannot change!!
Love can transform
The most commonplace
Into beauty and splendor
And sweetness and grace.
Love is unselfish,
Understanding and kind,
For it sees with its heart
And not with its mind!!
Love is the answer
That everyone seeks…
Love is the language,
That every heart speaks.
Love can’t be bought,
It is priceless and free,
Love, like pure magic,
Is life’s sweet mystery!!

Wow. All for love. All the poems have one thing in common, thy talk about love as an experience, a feeling, but love is way beyond that. There is the kind of love that never fails. Tha’s because it is not a feeling, it is a Person.

1 Corinthians 13: 4-8a

Love is patient

Love is kind

It does not envy

It does not boast

It is not proud

It does not dishonor others

It is not self seeking

It is not easily angered

It keeps no record of wrongs

Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.

It always protects, always trusts, always hopes always perseveres

Love never fails.

This type of love is from God Himself. Some people call Him the Man upstairs. He is God and He is love and He never fails. That is the reason for all the confusion where love is concerned. We keep trying to equate our experience with a Person. Until our experience unites with the Person, love will continue to perplex us. Once they amalgamate, then it makes sense, then we can commit to it, then we begin to appreciate it. God is love. God never fails. Ck
