PURSUE YOUR DREAM

It’s a new year and we all have dreams for different areas of our lives-family, work, service to God etc. Mr Walt Disney of the Disneyland Fame once said

‘All our dreams can come true if we have the courage to pursue them’

But we all know that it’s not only about pursuing your dreams but reaching them and making sure that they do come to pass in our lives. That is where the challenge is. It is very easy to dream but actually doing what it takes to make sure that your dreams become a reality is hard. So we’re giving you a few tips to increase the likelihood that your dream will become a reality.

Tip No 1-. Become very clear about your dream. Know exactly what you want to get. Visualize it in your mind with as much detail as possible. Napoleon Hill said in his famous book, Think and Grow Rich, Thoughts are Things. What you think about, you bring about. Make sure that you are thinking about your dream in clear and positive ways. You have to keep the dream alive in your mind. The Lord always encouraged His people to keep their dreamS alive in their minds. He gave them pictures to help them. He showed Abraham the stars in the sky (Genesis 15:4-6). He showed Jacob the ring-streaked, speckled, and grizzled cattle in a dream (Genesis 31:12). It helped them keep the dream alive.

Tip 2- Write down your dream. Give it life with as much detail as possible. The Lord told Habakkuk to write down the dream(Habakkuk 2:2). Writing things down gives it an engraved place in your mind.

Tip 3: Write down with as much clarity as you can the action steps that you will take to make your dream happen. It becomes the plan you work with to bring your dream alive. Sometimes, the large picture is intimidating, but breaking down to smaller, workable steps helps you handle it better.

Tip 4- Find pictures from magazines, newspapers and other sources that tell the story of your dream. Cut these out and glue them on a board to create a dream board. Add words that also describe your dream. Remember that you think in pictures, not words. A picture does more for your mind, them script.

Keep your board in a place where you will see it regularly-your office, bedroom, bathroom, kitchen. You can take it a step forward by taking your dream board and creating a vision video with the same images and text. Watch the video regularly and share it with your friends, family, support team, mentors and anyone else you feel like sharing it with. You may even also want to put it on your website or blog for the whole world to see. If you don’t shout your dream loud and clear, nobody will.

Tip 5- When you are struggling or encountering challenges, remember that no one ever realizes their dreams without challenges. Make a plan as to how you will overcome them and move forward. Don’t sit around feeling sorry for yourself-get moving. Don’t get fearful and discouraged.

Tip 6: Commit your dreams to the Man upstairs, He will help you through the tough times like no one else can. Psalm 127:1. Recognize that He is the giver of dreams and enables you to accomplish them. Without His help He, you will not be able to do much (John 15:5).
