Taking the Unknown

I am still in the excitement of 2015 and still so expectant. Like I said before, it promises to be a great and flourishing year especially for people of faith. Despite all the issues we face as a nation. Oil prices are crashing, the Naira is being devalued etc. I continue to say we will rise up to who we are as people of faith. We walk not by sight but by faith. We see the things that are not as though they are. So even though things look like they will be tough, we will look above them and draw down solutions. 2015

We are still in the early part of the year. It is still unknown to us what the year has to offer. So we are walking a path we have never walked before. Yet we have desires, dreams, goals we have set, some of them very lofty high ones, yet the year are unfolding. How do we ensure that even though we don’t know what lies ahead, we get the best of this wonderful, defining year? Because we are people of faith, we must first come to terms with the fact that even though we do not know what the year has to offer, we know the One who does. Who is this One? His name is Jesus. He knows everything about the year, everything-Every little detail of our lives and how they will play out this year.  What does that do for me? It makes me feel safe. If He knows it, then all I have to do is stay close to Him and the year will be good for me. Simply because He is good and His mercies endure for eternity.

The next question is how do I stay close to Him? What do I need to do? He has given us a Book. Some people call it the Holy Book, some call it the scriptures some call it the Good book. It is generally known as the Bible. The book has two major sections, known as the Old and new testaments. It is co authored by many men who experienced Him in different ways. In this amazing and great book, is His heart. All that He feels, thinks, plans and does, communicated by men who experienced Him very personally. This book is as relevant in this year that we still do not know as it was in the times it was written. It guides, gives instruction, teaches, has great wisdom for life, and will take us down the good path He has for us this year. The question is are you willing to trust this Book as the tool you need to navigate this year or do you think it is out dated and irrelevant for today. Luckily it is now no longer just in book form, you can also refer to it as Holy device, or Holy App, or whatever. You can take it everywhere you go on any device, phone, laptop, ipad etc. Will you trust it as your map for 2015?

The unknown has a way of generating fear, which in turn cripples, demobilizes and debilitates. We must be able to live above fear.  What the Word of God does instead is to generate faith. Faith is the only way we can transform the unknown to the known. How does it do that? It helps us see the things that do not exist and we begin to see them like they actually do. So even though you don’t know what the year will unfold you can begin to superimpose what you want to see on this unknown New Year. That is what the Word will do for us. Let me give you an example. Let’s say you have been married for 2 years. The honeymoon is over. You want to start a family. You want a baby. However 2015 does not guarantee that you can have a baby. You do not know if 2015 will give you the baby you desire. When you study the Word, it will tell you that God says we should be fruitful and multiply, in other words, have babies.  Then you begin to see yourself with a baby in your arms. You will continue to hold this picture simply because His word promises it. Then ultimately you will have the baby. That is how faith works. In your mind it is not just a word, baby, it becomes 3 dimensional, you actually see the baby. Girl or boy, fair or dark, looks like you or hubby etc. That is how powerful this Bible is.

What else does the Word do? It gives you what to pray about to bring your dreams to pass. For instance in the baby example, it gives several perspectives about having a baby, to pray about-conception, pregnancy, giving birth, breastfeeding, provision for the baby, etc. As you pray about all these things, you will get pregnant, have a beautiful pregnancy, deliver safely, provide for your baby and have a child that will have a blessed life. All in the Word right there. I know there are other books. But they will just give you information, educate you. The difference between the other books and this one is that this one is filled with power. The words of this book are packed with power to create, and do the impossible and the needful to give you the desire of your heart.

As you stay with God through the year and deepen yourself in Him through His Word and prayer, faith to stay focused will grow. You will discover the paths to go and stay with them. You will be strong; you’ll be able to face any opposition. You will come out victorious. No matter what 2015 plans to unfold, you can turn that plan in your favour by simply staying close to the One who already has a good plan for you. It is easy, in fact too easy. Maybe that is why people are reluctant to take it. However folks, it works. He works the best lives for us we can ever imagine. No one and nothing can make it better. Just stay with Him and He will be right there through it all. He is faithful and will never let you down. He says in His word, ‘no one’s ever seen or heard anything quite like it-what God has arranged for those who love Him. He also says, I know what I’m doing. I have it all planned out-plans to take care of you, not abandon you, plans to give you the future you hope for, the year you hope for.  Ck
