The Lies of the Enemy

John 8:44
Your father is the devil and you do exactly what he wants. He has always been a murderer and a liar. There is nothing truthful about him.  He speaks on his own, and everything he says is a lie. Not only is he a liar himself but he is the father of lies.
As kids we were taught that the devil is the bad guy. He makes us do bad things and he does bad things. They painted a picture of this ugly guy with horns. We grew up with the notion that if we stayed out of his way, we would be fine.
Now that I am older, I know that not to be the whole truth. That is what the devil would like us to believe about him, but there is so much more to him.
First, he is not an ugly dark looking figure with two horns. He is actually one of God’s most beautiful creatures. His looks are second-to-none-dead -handsome. That is why he can pose as an angel of light.
Secondly, keeping out of his way does not necessarily keep him away. He brings trouble your way, whether you like it or not. In fact, the more you try to keep away from him the more trouble he puts together for you.
We don’t like to think of him as a powerful persona, but that is what he is. He has some measure of power, enough power to make life here on earth miserable for all of us. He has enough power to intimidate and build untold fear in our lives. The only power that surpasses his, is the power of God, which is available to us as believers.
He has a system that is governed by hierarchies, with different functions. His system is run by wicked spiritual forces that have sworn their allegiance to him and will not repent. The system is quite efficient and to a large extent they get their work done. The only thing that stops them is when the finger of God is at work.  Then as my people say, ‘power pass power’. If God’s finger can stop Him, then imagine when He stretches His arm or sends His heartthrob Jesus to die for us. The enemy does not stand a chance.
For all he is worth, Jesus says about him that he is a murderer and a liar. There is nothing truthful about him.  He speaks on his own, and everything he says is a lie. Not only is he a liar himself but he is the father of lies.
So he operates by lies. His vision is to take as many people as possible to hell with him and his mission is to do it through lies. So he has packaged all kinds of lies.
-There are different ways to serve God, Jesus is not the only way. Jesus Himself said, I am the way the truth and the life, no one can come to the Father except by me
-You can be anything that you want to be, when God has said He has good thoughts to bring you to an expected end.
These are just two of his many lies. So what is the panacea for his lies. How do we recognise he is lying. We have the Bible, the written word of God. In this great book is the solution to all the workings and rantings of the enemy. He will try to authenticate his lies by working our experience to align. However, the Word of God will still expose his lies. All we have to do is hold unto the Word, no matter how long it takes. Don’t give up on the Word.
I was listening to a woman of God this morning, Pastor Isi. She said, God is too big to lie. He is too big to put that entire book together just to lie to us. I dare to say, He was not under duress to give us His word. Nobody forced Him to put it together. He went through a lot of trouble to put it together. It is His authentic piece of work, drawn from the very essence of who He is, all in His desire to bless us, His people. He is too big to lie. We can believe everything He says about us, our situations and Himself. We can hold unto it, because it will not fail. God watches over it to make sure it does not fail.
Why am I focusing on the enemy? I had some experiences just yesterday that made he realise he really hates it when I am happy. My car went for repairs. We discovered the particulars needed to be renewed so we asked the mechanic to drop it at a friend’s place. His driver went about fixing the situation and brought the car back to me. I asked to see the new documents which were in the glove compartment. It would just not open. The driver and I kept trying to open it, then suddenly, he yanked out the knob that opens it. It just broke. I was so upset, i just mumbled a thank you and stomped into my house. I felt I was ungracious. I woke up yesterday in prayer, yet i could not control my anger when the knob broke.
Later in the evening,  I asked my driver to use the same car to buy diesel for the generator in a can. He drove off without the can, bought fuel into the car instead. I had no more cash on me, and had to wait in the dark for my husband to come home from work before we could light the generator. I was so frustrated. The driver simply told me ‘Sorry’. But he had ruined my evening.
As I write this piece, I have planned my day, but guess what, my ATM card which I used yesterday refuses to work for no apparent reason. I am having to reschedule. I am stuck in traffic. I may not be able to achieve all I have planned for today. I am trying hard to stay calm. After all, He works all things together for my good, doesn’t He?
What is the lie the enemy is trying to sell? Nigeria is too stressful for me. I just came back from Tanzania, and even though, they do have power cuts, it is nothing like what I am experiencing  here. The Lord told me Nigeria would be good to me, that He had created space for me here. It is difficult to receive that when all my issues are silly but frustrating issues. Silly as they are, they mess up my peace and steal my joy. But I recognise his gimmicks and refuse to give in. God is able to make His promises good in my life.  So I hold on.
Like me, you may be facing one of the enemy’s lies in you life-in your health, marriage, work, ministry, relationships-whatever. Just  remember, you have an enemy who is trying to sell his lies. Get your Bible, look for the truth, look beyond your experience because that is where he thrives and trust the God, whose Word you are standing on. That is where your victory lies, because He never fails. Ck
  • Hmm.your articles touches us all. It is our experience.but I do know that there is “peace” in Christ. A life of gratitude…a life of following Christ, actually releases a peace that cushions us in the worst of situations..even releasing wisdom and favour for Victory!!!
Focused on God’s goodness..makes me chuckle when something should have made me mad! Lolz…#GodisTooMuch #Jesus
